How to use the currency converter
Choose the source currency in the “From” list and the currency you want to compare it with in the “To” list, then enter an amount. The converter starts with Saudi riyals and US dollars and lets you choose from 40 currencies, including the euro, pound sterling, UAE dirham, Kuwaiti dinar, Egyptian pound, Indian rupee, Chinese yuan, Japanese yen, and others.
Rates are retrieved when the page opens. You can request a fresh response with the “Get exchange rate” button. The page displays the provider’s last-update time converted to Riyadh time. The provider updates its reference data once per day, so it may not reflect minute-by-minute market movements.
How the calculation works
The converter uses reference rates based on the Saudi riyal and calculates the ratio of the target currency’s rate to the source currency’s rate. If A is the number of source-currency units equal to one Saudi riyal, and B is the number of target-currency units equal to one Saudi riyal, the result is the amount multiplied by B ÷ A.
For SAR to USD, SAR is the source and USD is the target. Reversing the selection calculates the other direction from the same reference rates; an actual exchange provider may produce a different final amount.
What does the displayed rate mean?
- It is an indicative reference rate for general comparison, not a promise that a bank or exchange provider will transact at that rate.
- A bank, card, or exchange service may add a conversion margin or service fee; the rate may vary by time, provider, and product.
- The result displays up to four decimal places for clarity; a payment provider may round the final amount differently.
- If the data source cannot be reached or returns an error, try reloading or request the rate later. The converter does not invent a rate when live data is unavailable.
Source and limitations
Rates are provided by ExchangeRate-API through its open-access endpoint, which requires no API key, subject to the provider’s documentation and terms. Source attribution is shown beside the calculator as required. Exchange rates change, and this tool does not execute conversions, connect to a bank account, provide financial advice, or constitute a binding offer.
Before paying, sending a transfer, or making a financial decision, confirm the rate, fees, and terms directly with your bank or service provider. Read Qintar’s Editorial Policy for more about our content standards.
